Common iPod Touch and iPhone faults and how they are repairedThere are numerous faults that we are asked to look at when it comes to iPod Touch and iPhones, which is why we have put together this handy guide to help you ascertain which type of repair you require. Cracked / Smashed Touch Screen (digitizer) The digitizer is the touch screen part of your iPod Touch / iPhone, but on the newer versions of the iPod Touch / iPhone - its not quite as simple as just replacing this. That's because with the iPod Touch 4th Generation and iPhone 4, the touch screen is joined to the LCD screen and therefore if you have a cracked / smashed touch screen on these models - you'll also have to replace the LCD at the same time, which sadly increases the cost of the repair. The good news is that if you have an iPod Touch 3rd Generation or iPhone 3G / iPhone 3GS - the touch screen can be replaced on its own, which reduces the cost of the repair. LCD Screen Damaged As mentioned above, because the touch screen and LCD on the iPod Touch 4th Generation or iPhone 4G are joined together - the whole unit will need to be replaced. However, with the iPod Touch 3rd Generation or iPhone 3G / iPhone 3GS - the LCD screen can be replaced separately. External Speaker Not Working One of the biggest reasons the external speaker may not work on the iPod Touch 4th Generation or iPhone 4 can be caused by the external speaker's connections becoming loose or the actual cables have frayed. This can be a tricky fault to repair and depending on whether the cables have been severed or disconnected - it's likely that the external speaker will need to be replaced. The most common fault that we are asked to look at is cracked / smashed screens, but prior to Bristol Computer Repairs / Qubix Technology repairing your iPod Touch / iPhone we will rigorously test the functionality of the device - to ensure that if there is another fault, it can be repaired at the same time. |
